Open Question: Hi! I ‘d like to know what you should do to become a pastry chef in the US…can you help me?

I’d like to know everything you need to do to become a pastry chef in the US. What classes you have to attend to..what kind of school you have to go to. If you need to go to college first and then to a special school..pretty much everything.
And,if you can give me a name of some culinary school in NY,it’d be perfect.
I need these info for a story I’m writing.
