What does it take to get into culinary art courses in college or at an Art Institute?

- Do they teach you about the basics, such as the equipment and the terms?
- What should you know before you take the course?
BTW: I’m posting this question in the cooking section because I know many of you who are in this section have went to culinary school or have taken culinary art courses.
