Open Question: help with finding a chef’s knife?

i am a culinary student and am looking at knives to buy for myself. im looking for a knife that has a sort of wavy design on the blade (not the edge!)…id like the steel to run all the way down the handle and would prefer it to be lightweight…anybody know of some good knives that fit this description?
ps. if you could help me out with what name is used when looking for that kind of wavy design on the blade

Resolved Question: So I got put in Culinary class this year…?

And there are 20+ girls and 6 guys. Good right there’s no competition all are losers and only 1 guy who might be gay from what I see. Anyways I have completely fallen head over heels over this one girl, she’s attractive and she kinda looks like my ex… I’ve been getting stared at by almost every girl my in classes, and I’m not paranoid I’m attractive. :) My schedule was changed, I now am placed in a different class which has a bunch of idiots and loud people. I’m hoping to change my schedule so I can be in that class again.
About approaching the chick, I’m not going to go up to her and start a conversation like most people on here suggest, I’ve seen that backfire terribly from my experience.

Open Question: Why do so many restaurants serve bad food combinations?

I recently read, for example, that protien & starch are not good to eat together because the chemicals the body uses to digest each will cancel each other out, leading to poor digestion; also, the food can sit in the stomach longer and could start to rot. So, “meat & potatoes” meals should be avoided; also, combining chicken & rice in a meal is not ideal. The worst are hamburgers & fries: Protien in the hamburger and lots of starch in the bun and fries (not to mention all the fat). Even a sub sandwich is not ideal (protien in the meat & starch in the bun). So why is it that so many restaurants serve such food combinations? I’d think that those who are in the culinary business should know at least the basic comcepts of good food combinations.

Mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) is a unique spice having morphological resemblance with ginger but imparts a raw mango flavour. The main use of mango ginger rhizome is in the manufacture of pickles and culinary preparations. Ayurveda and Unani medicinal systems have given much importance to mango ginger as an appetizer, alexteric, antipyretic, aphrodisiac, diuretic, emollient, expectorant and laxative and to cure biliousness, itching, skin diseases, bronchitis, asthma, hiccough and inflammation due to injuries. The biological activities of mango ginger include antioxidant activity, antibacterial activity, antifungal activity, anti-inflammatory activity, platelet aggregation inhibitory activity, cytotoxicity, antiallergic activity, hypotriglyceridemic activity, brine-shrimp lethal activity, enterokinase inhibitory activity, CNS depressant and analgesic activity. The major chemical components include starch, phenolic acids, volatile oils, curcuminoids and terpenoids like difurocumenonol, amadannulen and amadaldehyde. This article brings to light the major active components present in C. amada along with their biological activities that may be important from the pharmacological point of view.
